Q. Is there a comfortable garment I can wear after my breast surgery?
A. Yes. A soft cotton fabric, front closure bra or camisole with pockets, puffs and drain management options are our recommendation, for comfort and restored symmetry. Q. What is the benefit of wearing a silicone breast form? A. Your body goes through a lot of adjustments after surgery. Properly fitted breast forms provide balance for good posture and can prevent back and neck problems that often develop when a breast is removed. Q. When can I start wearing a breast form? A. A substantial silicone breast form can be worn after 4 to 6 weeks recovery from breast surgery. A light temporary breast form can be worn shortly after surgery on a case-by-case basis. Q. Do I need an appointment to fit the breast form and mastectomy bras? A. Appointments and walk-ins are always welcome. If there is a specific time that you would like to be fitted, an appointment can guarantee you will be seen right away. Either way, please allow about 45 minutes for a professional fitting, so we can ensure you are completely comfortable and satisfied. Q. Do I get any government assistance for my breast form? A. Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) subsidizes full breast form(s) up to $195.00. For a partial breast form, the subsidy is $105.00. Q. Do I need a special bra for my Breast Form? A. Yes, and we carry a great selection of everyday and sports bras with pockets in the cups to hold your breast form in place. These bras are carefully designed to support the weight of the breast form. Q. Does the government cover the mastectomy bras? A. No, but they may be covered by your private insurance plan. Q. Do I need an appointment for a wig fitting?
A. You are welcome to come and browse but an appointment is the best way to avoid unnecessary wait and find all we have to offer with our experienced hair specialist in a private setting. Q. What is the difference between a Human Hair Wig and a Synthetic hair wig? A. Human Hair offers the most natural look and feel. More expensive and durable, can be cut and style to suit your personal taste. Synthetic Wigs can be mainly worn out of the box. The fiber used has memory which lets hair bounce back into place with minimal effort. Synthetic hair is less durable than Human Hair and can not take heat above 300 degrees. Q. How do I care of my wig? A. Proper care can help protect it's longevity. Make sure to use cold water and special shampoo and conditioner made just for wigs. Q. How often do I wash my wig? A. Ultimately depends on how often you wear it. General rule for all wigs 10 to 14 wearings. Q. Do you carry men's wigs? A. No. Q. Do you carry Hair pieces? A. Yes, we offer a limited selection in-store. Q. Can I have my human hair wig styled in the store? A. We don’t offer in-store styling for human hair wigs, but we’d be happy to recommend a stylist. Q. Can I bring my wig to be washed? A. No, we don’t offer in-store washing. |
