The holiday season can be overwhelming for anyone, but for those undergoing cancer treatment, it can be especially challenging. It's important to manage your energy and not overexert yourself while still embracing the festive spirit.
 
Here are my tips for navigating the holidays during cancer treatment include:

• Surround yourself with loved ones, whether through physical gatherings or virtual connections.
• Modify your traditions to reduce stress. For example, delegate hosting duties or opt for a potluck meal.
• Delegate shopping and decorating to family members who are helpful and empathetic.
• Clear your travel plans with your physician.
• Seek out a trusted confidant or counselor to help manage stress. Emotional support has never been this crucial.
• If you're able to eat, indulge in holiday foods in moderation to maintain nutrition without overloading your digestive system.
• Ensure that your activities incorporate ample downtime. Rest is vital, as fatigue is a common side effect of cancer treatments.

Lastly, communicate openly with your doctor to tailor your treatment schedule to accommodate holiday plans and address any new or concerning side effects.
